Virginia Khuri has been making photographic fine prints since 1977, first in London, England and most recently on the East End of Long Island, New York. She began working solely in traditional black and white but now also uses archival digital technology. She holds a Master’s Degree in Photography from De Montfort University in England and is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain.
She recognizes the importance of a contemplative approach to the discovery of knowledge in nature, a sort of listening through the visual cacophony that surrounds us to a kind of stillness. The transformations which occur when translating three dimensional realities onto paper also fascinate her. She has always used her camera, not to illustrate or document the world before the lens, but to convey something of the quality of her particular individual experience of it. Every photographic project and each printed image represents a visual journey of exploration and discovery.
